Brunello di Montalcino
Celestino Pecci
Classy, spicy and elegant
Stylish and refined classic Brunello. The wine is spicy with great power. Intense and persistent fruit. Even when young, it shows a very harmonious side - well-balanced, tasty with lovely acidity and supple but still firm tannins. The wine promises a long cellaring potential (up to 20 years), where it will develop over time into a softer mouthfeel. If opened young, decanting into a wide-bottomed carafe is recommended. For game, good steaks, well-seasoned pasta dishes with meat and mature cheeses.
The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, gently pressed and macerated for 20 days in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The wine is aged in a combination of different sized Slovenian oak barrels for 36-40 months and a further 6 months in bottle.

Celestino Pecci
Celestino Pecci was born on a farm near Sant'Antimo in Montalcino. He was supposed to work in an office, but he would rather go down the wine route. In 1968, when the wine was not so well known and the land was cheaper, he bought 40 hectares in the highlands north of Montalcino town, where Celestino and his wife Idria have gradually built up a fine reputation for Brunello using organic (but not certified) methods. Today, his daughter Tiziana has taken the lead in production.
The fields are exposed south-southwest at an altitude of approximately 350 m. A location that is good for temperature differences between day and night, which promotes freshness in the wines, not least in warm vintages.
Brunello is aged for no less than 3-4 years in large and small oak barrels before bottling, and then in the bottle for 1-2 years before sale.
